What's the best way to reduce raised, red scars?

I had surgery about 2 months ago and the incisions have healed but they%26#039;re red and really stick out. They%26#039;re really noticeable. Is it worth buying some sort of cream at the drug store or just letting nature take its course? Are there any herbal remedies? Anyone have anything that%26#039;s worked for them?|||Apply the liquid from a natural vitamin E capsule daily. This is a home remedy from good ole mom which has always helped me. Additionally wou might want to visit your doctor or a plastic surgeon as there are several prescription alternatives that can be applied.|||You can try silicone, compression bandages. They are supposed to work for raised scars %26amp; keloids. You can buy them anywhere. They%26#039;re in with the regular bandaids.|||The problem is that it was performed by a sub-par canadian doctor. If you went to an American doctor you would have neither a scar or redness.
